3/11/2023 0 Comments Defend your castle for wii![]() ![]() ![]() Like most tower defence games, you’ll be dealing with a threat in a specific direction and The Castle Game gives you handy markers on the playing field and on the radar so you can plan. Thankfully the graphics make the game easy to follow and navigate around, with the camera deserving some praise for doing its job in terms of how easy it is to control, and a handy radar in the corner alerting you to where the threat is coming from. Some will try to overwhelm you simply with the mass of numbers, while others will be high life tanks, that need slowed down using walls and traps while you take them down. The first couple of missions act as a tutorial, introducing you to the basics of game but after that the game starts to ramp up the challenge relatively quickly by introducing enemies that will require various tactics in order to defeat. Placing something always costs you in crystals that you get from killing enemies, you also need food if you are producing any soldiers which you can get from building farms, so there is the small matter of resource management to consider as well. You can summon militia at certain points to attack hand to hand and in later levels you’ll get your hands on lightning powers to rain down destruction from the sky. You’ll build walls or archers, or place a guard camp or a trap all in the hope to either hold up the enemy so you can whittle down their numbers, or blow them up using explosives. The situations you are given are varied enough to keep you entertained and on your toes. You might have to simply defend your castle from destruction, or make sure some civilian has safe passage to the castle or defend an area from attack. Your role is to build a line of defence and fulfil certain conditions in order to win. The story won’t win any writing awards, a Dark Lord has decided to cause m ayhem and destruction and you are the target of his affections and his rage. Your aim is to wipe them out before they get a chance to do too much damage to your fortifications and your castle. Neptune Interactive give you the chance to defend yourself against wave after wave of enemies that attack your base. It may be frustrating, but perhaps in this way Defend Your Castle is rewarding as well. The tower defence genre is more popular on mobile phones and tablets than consoles nowadays, with some of the biggest names having mainstream television adverts in order to entice you dive in a build your empire. There is definitely some difficulty in this title, and don't be surprised if you play through a level several times. But I would exercise caution, especially to those who think this game is all fluff. Fans of games like PixelJunk Monsters will be drawn to its "defend the tower" style gameplay, and it is also fun for those who enjoy a quick pick-up-and-play experience. Overall, Defend Your Castle is a worthwhile title and a steal at only 500 points. So even though Defend Your Castle might be really fun, if your wrist starts hurting, give it a rest. Because the game relies on you licking your wrist very quickly, you may find yourself with one heck of a case of Wii-wrist after playing too long. It can really give you a headache.Īnother painful aspect of this game occurs after you've played for about an hour or so. These little noises can get annoying, especially during harder levels when things are going very fast and all you hear is a choir of fist pounding and little, stick people noises. The stick people make little "ouch" noises after you fling them the bombs go "kaboom" (there is literally a human voice that says "kaboom") and if you let the little people close enough to your castle you can hear them beat on it. There is absolutely no music, and the sound scheme relies solely on sound effects from the invading stick people and your own equipment. Most of your power-ups are controlled via point and click, except for the magic power-up, which is controlled via a double tap on the d-pad. You grab little stick figures with the Wii-mote and are able to fling them across the screen with a flick of your wrist. As far as control is concerned, this title is extremely simple. ![]()
